Mark grew up in southern Alabama, where at the age of 13 he began his career as a radio disc jockey. Mark moved his career forward by accepting a management position and eventually holding the titles of Production Director, Music Director, and Program Director at many of the radio stations along the Gulf Coast. Most would say he made his Mark on the southern United States with his brackish on and off-air personality. He eventually outgrew the radio lifestyle and retired it permanently.
Mark moved to San Francisco in April of 2005. Out of desperation he answered a Craigslist ad and accepted a part time Christmas help position at The UPS Store™. A few short months later and after making physical improvements as well as increasing revenue, he was asked to accept the store Manager position. One year later Mark became the General Manager overseeing and consulting at five locations of The UPS Store™ where he grew annual revenue 20-43% within a twelve month period.
Mark was in high acclaim due to the miraculous turn around at some of these retail locations. In 2010 Mark accepted an offer to move to Napa Valley and oversee three The UPS Store™ locations. Napa was a beautiful part of California, yet much different than the city by the bay that he grew to love. Shortly thereafter Mark moved back to San Francisco and accepted a marketing position at The UPS Store™ in Japantown. The franchisee struggled to bring the store into the green for five years, stating "if the store were not profitable by the following year, he would have to sell." Due to Mark and the combined efforts of the staff, the store was indeed profitable by the following year and continues to grow its monthly revenue by an average of 20%.
After a typical but exhausting Christmas season in 2011, Mark along with his friend and co-worker Angelo Cordon started brainstorming about ideas to increase productivity and profitability at these retail stores. On February 23, 2012, the RocketShip idea was born into existence. Today Mark is the Co-Founder, CEO, and Director of Business and Sales Development at RocketShip Corporation. On a typical day you can find Mark and Angelo at their corporate offices glued to their MacBooks and putting in long hours to continue development of their fast paced startup company in San Francisco.
